I nominate you for member of the year 2005. Very nice. I knew my brand new 05 was probaly made in late 04. Gets me to thinking whether it might be a good idea to change the oil even though I've only gone 400 miles? Would the dealership have done that over the course of 13 months? Should I?

Someone else asked that here a week ago and here is that answer: http://forums.thunderbirdforum.com/s...stcount~37.htm I haven't recalculated in the last week but if you subtact 100 from those totals you'll be very close for today.

I may have missed your reply to the question above, but do you know when the first ones were built? Can you tell from the serial # how many were built before.

Good question. Your VIN 04173 would indicate it was approximately the 4173 Thunderbird built. To determine much closer (maybe even exactly) how many were made before yours you need to look at the "Rotation" number. This is a four digit number right above the VIN on the sticker located on the left front fender lip (under the hood). The first batch of Thunderbirds came off the line March 14, 2001 but it wasn't until June 2001 that production started to ramp up.
