Blue oil numbers
QuickD : On page 2, Blueoils numbers are January 2001. I thought all these cars started in 2002. Could they have been held up that long?

George I think Ford began accepting orders for the Thunderbird Jan 1 2001 but it was many months before the first one rolled off the line.

Ordered: 9/15/2000 Produced 6/29/2001 At dealer: 9/24/2001 Sold date: 9/26/2001 Thats the earilest one I've ever seen... a Neiman Marcus edition... Did you call in that first 90 minutes until they sold all 200 or did you buy it from someone that did? Weren't they about $42,000? that was about $10,000 less than many early adopters paid. |

Thanks so much for the info. Yes, I particpated in the big phone call rush. I followed the development of this car every step of the way, so I was prepared. Funny thing was that there was a mix-up in the time posted for when the lines would be open. It was posted as 10 a.m. EST. Well the first problem is that in September, daylight savings time (EDT, not EST) is still in effect, so that accounted for one ambiguity. Also, I believe the phone center was in Texas which is on Central Time. In any event, whatever the reason, the lines didn't open until 11 a.m. EDT. So I was calling for a full hour, listening to a recording that said call in on the date originally posted....even though that time had passed. Someone finally answered around 11, and I got my car. Exactly one year later, to the day, my dealer informed me that my car was delivered.
And yes, you are correct, I only paid $41,995 before taxes and delivery. |

That explains a lot.
I orderd mine at end of Feb or first of March.
I went trough hell with this order. They insisted that there was no option of getting a white top which I eventually got. Original order was probably for blue with blue top in January. Maybe you can PM me with the number of change orders this one went trough. Thanks very much again Quickdraw. HKS Quote:

Butek,
Congratulations on the PCR! I'll check it for you Monday. =========================================== For those that are new, HKS (above Buteks message) has an excellent DVD with about 77 minutes of comercials, promo footage, and news stories from Fords FCN internal communication system on the Thunderbirds. Covers everything from the 2002s to 2004s. Its probably the most complete collection of retro Thunderbird material available anywhere. |
