hard top color

Starting to tear into my 55 Tbird. In the past someone did a half hearted job of converting the car to a white car with black interior. Car will be restored to the original blue with turquoise interior. I need help. Hard top right now is a bumpy black finish almost like some type of vinyl surface, did Ford do something like that? Anyway what color should it be, I assume either the blue or white.

I believe that all early birds only had smooth surfaces.

yes they did. it was common in the 70's to recover the hardtop in a naughahide I know they did it to my 57. Usually it was a fix for cracks in the glass and cheaper than regelcoating. your 55 should be same color top as body. two tones were more popular in the 56 and 57 model years and i am not even sure it was offered in 55, but check with a 55 person who should be able to tell you more.
