I am not sure what you're printing, but if it's my post, they won't even read that.
What you need is to give them the TSB 03-14-4. This proves there is a Ford recognized problem which goes for almost every car, truck and SUV - In the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury divisions.
Read it first and you'll probaly see your symptoms - Print it from this old thread, post #13:

I don't recall this with my 02.

thanks again, Patman
Patman,

There have been several of posts on the humming noise. It's your rear wheel bearings. I had the problem on my 03 Tbird at 20,000 miles. Unfortunately, my warranty had expired. That little expesive escapade provoked me to buy an extended warranty. Good luck with your bearing problem. Ford could have cared less about my problem. My dealer service guy is great but Ford really has been difficult to deal with.

Hope this helps,

Jim (jetbird)

Warranty extension

I brought my 03 into the local Lincoln Mercury dealer today to have them test out the COPS issue and they said that since there were no codes that came up, they would have to charge me the $180 to do the stress tests. Should they find any issues, then they would replace what was necessary. This was because it was issued as a warranty extension rather than a true recall. That there were no codes that came up was a bit bizzare, as I can feel a small misfire as I drive the car. I really feel as though Im getting a run-around on this one, folks.

Whatever you do, be sure they document it and you should keep a copy of the service order.
If they write up, "customer complains of misfire", that may be helpful in the future for you. Did they say if you pay the $180 and they find an issue you get a rebate?

Or, even if you elect Not to have the test, get the service order written up and they should add "customer declines test". That way it shows you complained, elected not to do test because no codes shown, and that you decided to drive, with misfire, until a code shows up or the problem gets worse.

Short of that, you may need another dealers opinion

Cops

I had them do the test because I KNEW there was an issue. They ran it and it came back clean. Really odd. I told them to make SURE they test drove it after doing the other work requested (steering wheel squeak, LOF). They did and felt the misfire after getting the car good an hot. Serv Mgr told me that the computer would not register the issue unless it happened twice within a certain period of time. (huh?) Turned out the #5 cylinder was the culprit. As they found the issue, I did not have to pay for the stress test after all.

You are the Man!!! Did everything right; stood your ground, made them test drive it, and proved to them that there was an issue. Even got your $180 off the tab.
Too bad the customer has to walk dealers through the steps, exactly what they should be doing as a good business practice.

BTW, that steering squeek should have been done under TSB and at no charge

coil recall

car had 75K on it when I purcchased it. So it was a 2004 ford covered on the ford recall. Everything on it was about new now that ford fixed it, but I was so affected by all the stress of it all I sold it. Traded it in...Patrick
