I have a 2003 T-bird that lurches below 35 mph. Above 35, the car rides smooth. The tires are in good shape and have even treadwear. I can not figure out if it is a transmission, engine or other type of problem. Any ideas on diagnosis would be appreciated.

Tbird310:
First of all Welcome to the Forum!! Yes there have been reports of hesitation in some Birds. So, I'll cut and paste some info as i have seen it: "There's a TSB for "Harsh Shifting". It calls for a reflash of the tranny, and it makes all the difference in the world. My car had rough shifts, hesitation, and would sometimes lurch forward when I tried to stop. The following TSB eliminated all those things:" If you PM me your email address I'll send you a copy Then there's another owner that had the same but different results: "replaced potentiometer - engine throttle body tsb 5-14-4their report says: "removed throttle body and replaced TPS." Note TPS = Throttle postioning sensor. Hope this helps you |
