2005 Bird Air Conditioner Compressor

Less than 3000 miles and replacing compressor. Anyone else have this experience. Friend's car. Plus, battery was dead when it should not have been.

Thats an awfully short time for a compressor to go out. not saying there are not defective parts but is he sure its the compressor and not that he has a leak in the line somewhere? todays compressors will stop working if there is not enough pressure in the system. How old is the battery? Batterys are age defined not mileage so a 2002 that is in a faily hot or cold climate that isnt driven much will loose charge quick. the other culprit is if he left the defrost button depressed for the rear window. I hit it once on accident and came out to a dead battery in the morning.

Friend's Bird and mine are 2005. I am printing your response to give to my friend at tomorrow mornings coffee break. I appreciate the comment about the defrost switch. I'll try to watch that in my own Bird. I think we should try and drive the birds more. Thanks for the response. Ira
