bought my 04 in feb of 2009. 2 weeks later, limp condition. dealership replaced throttle body. in dec of 2009, limp again, ford dealership replaced ECU as it has long warranty. 2 days later, limp, turned off, restarted and no problem. this morning, 3 days later, limp gain and turned off, restarted, but engine light stayed on. any suggestions? throttle body only had 12/12000 mile warranty that is now too late as i am in 15000 mile since. t-bird only has 40k on engine. help? |

Definitely sounds like COPS - Coils on Plugs, to me. Going into limp mode is the first thing it would do. You can use the search function above for COPS or the coil on plugs to get a lot of info. If you can get to the dealer while it's in limp mode, they should be able to get the code off the computer, that tells them itys a COP. Many others have had the same replacements before they found out it was COPS. These are very expensive BTW - There's a Ford letter out that says all 2003 to 2005 Thunderbirds are covered for up to 100,000 miles for COPS - It is also shown in your dealers computer on their OASIS system - The subject is Customer Satisfaction Program 07M07. Need a copy, ask. I cannot post it here because I've posted too many attachments. EDIT: Just found my earlier post using the search. Go to the following thread and then my post #4 for the letter: http://forums.thunderbirdforum.com/s...light~cops.htm Last edited by George; 12-31-2009 at 12:46 PM. |
