power steering question...

I have a 1996 tbird lx v-6 and i just had the power steering pump relaced by my mechanic and I cant remember if it did the same thing but at a stop if i start turning the wheel it kind of feels jerking like not smooth for a moment not severe, basically when driving its fine just at a complete stop and turning the wheel.

Make sure the belt is tight.

it sounds like it is the rack and pinion. i had to replace one on a friends car. does it do it when you are going around a corner or long curve?
