modern maintenance parts for 1961

I was wondering if someone had a list created or found that provides the modern part #s for parts that are used during oil changes, tunes ups, etc. After a lot of confusion at my local auto parts store, I bought an oil filter online. I got a Fram PH8A. I didn't know it took a common part and I paid $3 shipping on it. Ahhhh! My truck uses the same filter and I had an extra one in the garage. Obviously not every part can be bought at your local Walmart, but if it's possible I'd rather save a few bucks. Thanks for your help. As you guessed, I've only had my '61 for 8 days.
