Competition is good for the consumer. When one site has a monopoly on Thunderbird fans it’s easy for the people that run it to feel they are above the rules. When the other place got that way I quit rather than be beaten into submission. It’s too early to see if those moderators will tighten the noose even more or begin to follow the rules they themselves made. If I knew how to start a poll here we could vote:

o They will tighten the noose more hoping to quell an insurrection before it gets going
o They will stop being hypocrites and will abide by their own rules to avoid an insurrection

In any case it costs nothing to participate at both sites, and as long as both are viable, then neither site is likely to feel they are above the “rules.” I miss my friends but I just couldn’t stay anywhere the moderators are not bound by any rules at all other than; its our board, we do what we want, we don’t have to explain anything to you, if you don’t like it leave and, oh by the way, here’s another boot in the head. Thats what they did to me.

I don't know if you consider me a friend from the other place or not :D , but I'm here now also. I will continue to participate there, at least for the time being. I have seen a couple of things indicating that choice #1 in your poll is the winner.

Yes, AZ you are a friend, and I especially admire that you used your same name from the other site and aren’t afraid of being tortured over there, for participating here.

EDIT P.S. If anyone is concerned about "burning bridges" just use another name to be safe. They can be downright cruel for no reason at all except you happen to step on the wrong persons toe.

Quickdraw,

I am one of the few people that know of your generous and unique contributions. Thank you very much.

I was cut off short on a thread between a couple of members arguments. I tried to defuse the situation. The next post after mine was somthing about hockey sticks. I knew it was hopeles to continue. It looked like I caused trouble when I was trying to help.

Wow! I'm impressed that you too use your same handle - you must be a trouble maker also. <grin> Thank you for visiting.

Right now they are in damage control mode... they don't want ANY public mention of anything questionable. They want to "handle it via PM." That way they can threaten and lie to people about what went on, one-on-one. Anyone that wants to know the truth can ask me for copies of my email exchanges with the thugs.

Wouldn't you think people that escaped a dictatorship would be more sensitive to peoples need for freedom? What’s that saying about power corrupting?

Has any of the 20 odd clique members offered any explanation of where or when my supposed second warning came from?

Hi Quickdraw, now how do we get 007 over here?

Quickdraw
02-09-2004, 06:56 PM
Hi Donna!

Which 007? Tony007, Mrs007, or Lady007? :D

If they do come I hope they change their handles to Tony008, Mrs008, and Lady008, so they aren't recognized and get targeted by the gang of outlaws that claim to be "peace loving".

Right now they are throwing flower pedals and singing songs of Thunderbirds to take everyone’s mind off of their dictatorial methods. "If you have questions of concerns about freedom to have an opinion about anything non-Thunderbird please PM us so we can handle it eight-to-one”.

And you have to love everyone going into the off-topic forums saying "this is a diversion, lets stay on Thunderbird topics." Why would they venture away from the Thunderbird forums in the first place if that’s what they want to talk about?

Hi SunLuvn, actually it is Donna Sophia.
Wasn't I going to adopt you so I would have someone to leave my diamonds to? I was looking for your posts someplace else and noticed you hadn't been around much.

No Quick, you didn't email me a long time ago, it was just a couple of days ago, I sent you an email, and you answered me with the info about the other emails. I am the one that had a couple of ministers wishing I would die and go to Hell. That is how I found about this forum. Am I going to get kicked off for saying that?

I must have a sick sence of humor, every time I opened my mouth over there, I got yelled at. Oh, about the ministers thing, I guarantee I am a lot closer to heaven than they will ever be.

Now..... I am having trouble logging on here. It says Access Denied, there is no such person as Sophia. I even tried to see if I had messed up on my password, and tried to get it emailed to me. I typed in my name, and not the email address. Still says I don't exist.

How did I get here then???? I am clicking on the link from my email message telling me (yes me, the non person) that you guys have posted. Good thing, or I wouldn't be getting on here.

By posting a message I think you are in as far as it gets, my password doesn't work at some of the areas either. This place needs fixing up a bit but I think it can be re-habbed.

Sorry Donna, I even had to look up your email to recognize you - that was four days ago and I've had quite a lot of correspondence lately. You are the only Donna so I don't really have an excuse for not remembering. <grin>

I am the one that had a couple of ministers wishing I would die and go to Hell.
How'd you like to have 8 to 10 moderators, their spouses, and their friends wishing you'd die and go to hell?

I haven't even been posting much over there lately, and I got the dreaded warning that points to a deleted thread that you can't even see the topic of.

They emailed me that I had been issued another warning and was now BANNED, and if I have questions to email one of the adiminstrators. Of course the "warning" (if there was one) must have been a PM that I can't read because I'm banned. Plus three days now Ive been asking if BANNING is "forever" and I guess they haven't figured it out yet as they haven't answered.

You may have gotten a warning for not wishing blkmuskrat a happy birthday.

We're not going to ban anyone here unless they do something illegal that I could be liable for. I would say everyone would agree the stuff people are getting banned for over there is not illegal.

Sounds to me like you have your cookies disabled. Contrary to popular belief cookies are nothing more than a marker, they save your spot so when you come back again, you don't get stuff that you only need to see the first time you visit for instance.

Some over zealous people have damaged the reputation of cookies which are neccessary for many things like shopping carts.

Our site, for example uses a cookie to prevent you from seeing the bookmark thing everytime. It also is used on the login if I recall.

On the main page of the forums http://forums.thunderbirdforum.com/index.php there is a login at the bottom right hand corner.

As Bimota guy pointed out, they are now replaceable.. If anyone out there has an ipod, or knows someone who does, I highly recommend the book "The Missing Manual-the book that should have been in the box" It is the bible for ipod owners, written by J.D. You think 105.95 for some Ni-MH batteries is a good deal? Sounds like a big rip off to me, whoever thought of that is very smart.

You don't make a product that uses a consumable part that the consumer cannot replace. I cannot believe they haven't been sued yet.

I have no idea how much it actually costs to replace the battery, but I really don't care. I've wasted far more money than that on cell phones that I keep replacing to get the latest technology available, not to mention the cameras we've gone through, too. I have over 8,000 songs on my ipod, and haven't used even half the memory yet. It's very possible they will come out with a new improved model before my battery dies, which may not even happen.

The ipod takes MP3s? Theres a USB port to download them from the computer? Are you serious, 8,000 songs?

Thanks Harry. Cruise was AWESOME! I had so much fun, drank alot of Martinis and wine...those island drinks fill you up too much. I met alot of fun people, stayed up too late every night.
Good thing I had a week in Florida to recover. Yes, I got very tan, probably the darkest I've ever been. Seven days in the Carribbean sun can really cook you. I had to buy another small suitcase to bring home all my souveniers in!

I double checked my ipod, and due to the problems I was having copying my cds, I realize I have only about 4200 songs on it right now, using up about a third of the memory (which is 40GB). (originally, I thought I had copied over 8,000, but not all of them copied properly due to the fact that I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing) It does use a USB port, you can copy music in several formats, the MP3 being the most compact form..I use the AAC format. It also takes AIFF, WAV, or Audible formats, but they use too much memory.

Quickdraw
03-30-2004, 08:04 PM
>>.have only about 4200 <<<<

Still I cant picture you getting tired of hearing them repeat.... bet you haven't listened to them all even once... Thats amazing. Saw a thing on the news tonight advising ipod owners to get cheap black headphones as the white ones are a tip off to grabby thieves.

loochie
03-30-2004, 09:42 PM
No, I don't know if I'll ever hear them repeat...what's nice about it is that I take it with me everywhere, and I find myself listening to older stuff that I'd forgotten about, but still love. It's just so much more convenient than carrying a load of cd's around with you. I have such a wide range of interest musically, I can listen to a greater variety without any hassle of picking out what I'll want to listen to each morning as I head out the door. I have a "vacation" playlist which has reggae/beach type music, a workout playlist that keeps me pumped up, "concert" playlists that are my favorite artists/groups in concert.....the possibilities are endless.

I don't use the headphones that came with it, (they are the "ear bud" types, which I hate) I use cheap fold-up ones that are quite easy to carry around.

So, while there is the possible battery problem, (which I am not sure how accurate that claim is), the enjoyment this little gadget brings me is well worth the price it cost to own and operate, and that's my bottom line!

loochie
03-31-2004, 08:33 AM
I've been doing a little research, since T-bird brought this up, about the battery. Apple gives it a life anywhere from 2 to 9 years, depending on useage and charging habits. Apple will replace it for $99, or you can do it yourself for around $49. They say they started their battery replacement program before the "Dirty little secret" website even came into being (by about 7 days).
