Thought it would be interesting to see how many miles people are racking up on their Birds.
I received mine on 9/28/01 and now have 8600 miles on it.
Did a trip plan for our upcoming out west vacataion in Aug./Sept. and it looks like the round trip is going to be close to 9000 miles. Yikes!

Picked up YLO BRD on 2/12/02 and now have 1700 miles on it. It was garaged until the snow and salt were off the roads with just an occasional short ride on a nice day avoiding all the puddles. Now that our weather is great, the miles will rack up soon.

Picked my 'bird up on February 7, 2002. She had 30 miles on her at the dealership, and now has roughly 1,200 miles. She's more than likely going to spend most of the summer in the garage (it's now officially "rainy season" here). Still haven't decided whether or not to make the trip to Destin in October.

So far we are the winners. We picked ours up October 12, 2001. We have 10,259 miles on the odometer. We just got back from a 2500 mile trip to Southern California and leave next week for a 7,000 mile trip to New Jersey. Will probably have 20,000 miles on it the first year and I don't even drive it to work. Of course, I don't work either. I know some out there who have me beat in miles, but who?

Just checked, 5885 happy miles since the 25th of January. I am guessing I'll double that by the end of September with the trips we are planning on. If I could take it to Maui this fall, http://www.fordthunderbirdforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I'd have even more, but i checked and it takes more than one seat on the plane. John

I don't know that this is a "prize" to be winning, since I don't WANT to drive the car to death in just 2-3 years, but since January 9th, 2002, I've put 14,182 miles on my T-bird.
This comes from commuting about 600 miles a week to my work and graduate school, not counting special trips for other purposes. I'm trying to shift to using trains as much as possible -- I'd like to put less than 25,000 miles on the car for the year.

My wife and I have 3 of these great cars (we sold our child!.) The red Bird has 5100 miles and was delivered in Sept. of last year. The Blue Bird has 2000 miles and it's been here for a couple of months. And the Neiman Marcus car has only about 600 miles. Most all the miles on the red and blue cars were on trips. Very little local driving. The Neiman car is driven a little....only to keep it exercised.

Our Blue Premium HT/Full accent #9429 was delivered January 26, 2002. It now has 5275 miles. It is also our car of choice over the 1997 Cougar. The Cougar is nice but it isn't a convertible. It does have one advantage (or disadvantage sometimes) in that it holds five adults. The Thunderbird is my daily driver and has also been on a few weekend trips of up to 750 miles.

My 100th post here (Corks popping, party favors honking, confetti flying): I've just passed 5,000 miles with Freyja, which puts me at about 20k per year; about 33% greater than my "legitimate" usage. We have now had our car 14 days (at 4:30 this afternoon). It now has 633 miles on it which brings our average down to 45.2 miles per day. And we have three other vehicles that we have been driving too. Of course I'll put 10 more miles on it on the way home today and Dot will be using it tonight.
Our average will drop in the next few weeks as it will sit in the garage while we drive the '57 to Parsippany, NJ for the CTCI International Convention and on to Atlanta for the 4th of July parade.
Where do the miles come from???????

That's pretty cool information....it makes some of us look like gluttons, while others must be totally anorexic in their driving habits.
Amadeus would feel SOOOO lonely if I only took him out for 5 miles/day.

Been there, done that. We took AMTRAK from Jackson, MS to Reno, a three night trip on the train. Great trip, have to have the delux sleeper. Due to a delay, we were able to see the Rockies in the daytime. We have made several trips on AMTRAK and recommend it to everybody. Hate to see all the talk in the news about their financial problems. Our next trip is to go to Canada on Amtrak and the Canadian railroad. Sorry to get our views out like this on train travel, but it is a fantastic way to see the USA.
